We applaud EDRi's report on #AdTech calling for EU legislative changes to stop intrusive ads & pervasive user tracking, which harm people's privacy rights & fuels disinformation. Companies can be profitable using non-creepy ads: nytimes.com/2019/06/19/opi… edri.org/our-work/surve…

Google planned long ago to eliminate cookies from Chrome, replicating prior moves from Apple and Firefox. Now it's decided to replace them with....nothing! Google is anticipating the coming regulation of such data, and that it's better to get ahead of that wave.

After months of stalling, Google finally revealed how much personal data they collect in Chrome and the Google app. No wonder they wanted to hide it. Spying on users has nothing to do with building a great web browser or search engine. We would know (our app is both in one).

Google doesn't sell your data, and never has. As such they are better than many other adtech companies, and their recent move is good for consumers. But Google does auction access to you, and that should make you cautious of depending on it.

Chrome is how Google knows so much about you. But do you have to use it? For Apple users there's Safari, a favorite among privacy fans. But over on Windows there's something new cooking....Microsoft's own browser! apple.news/AWorWVKNoS6mBn…

Opinion news is just other people's opinions about the news. "Entertainment" and "Clickbait" news are just designed to keep you scrolling. Evidence-based news is expensive to produce, so it usually costs money.
