When I first tried GPT3 I remember thinking writing as a skill was basically over. Now I think the opposite is true. LLMs still can’t write, everybody else’s abilities are atrophying, and being able to clearly express yourself in prose seems like it will only get more valuable

I wrote about Leonardo Da Vinci's obsession with water in Big Think this week: "In a forgotten notebook from the late 15th century, Leonardo da Vinci sketched a series of looping eddies — swirls of water curling back on themselves. He was studying how fluids moved in nature.

A Missouri town where most voted for Trump is now reeling after a beloved community member, Carol, is being deported. They say, “we didn’t vote to deport moms.” But actually they did. Trump was clear. This is what he promised, and for many, what they chose to ignore.

'Money flows' from your pocket to mine once you sign up for my workshop Jokes aside: money is a form of energy. But it mostly flows to . . . other money. It's called compounding.

I spoke to an L train operator who told me he picks shifts on the A train just to stay sane On the automated lines your only job is to press a DMS button every few mins proving you're awake & watching it drive itself It's profoundly dehumanizing & expensive featherbedding

This is all wild national forest in the San Juan and Rio Grande National Forests. No affordable housing will be built here cause no working class people would move here cause there's no jobs here. As soon as this is sold, fences go up and nobody has access. It will all be closed.

My first time driving around the American West and it's disheartening: fence and "no trespassing" almost everywhere. Feels like the open land has been castrated. Selling parts of what remains to fund tax cuts is a disgraceful idea
