Thank you Paul. A Frank and Stan Chat election special tomorrow. Seems likely a new government will be formed. As a new teacher in 1979, I had to wait until 1997 for a change of government. It felt momentous. This seems an equally significant event. A time for renewed optimism.

The alternative big listen survey has revealed widespread dissatisfaction with the watchdog, with nine in 10 respondents deeming it ‘not fit for purpose’ Frank Norris and Colin Richards say Ofsted is in ‘existential crisis’ schoolsweek.co.uk/ofsted-not-fit…

Extremely interesting yet concerning findings from research conducted by Frank Norris @colinsparkbridginto capturing teachers' thoughts on Ofsted. Well worth a read, and highlights the necessity for change. Food for thought for the new government.

Colin Richards (@colinsparkbridg) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Ofsted is understandably defensive given the major criticisms levelled at it in the Alternative Big Listen and the report on Reading's handling of the Caversham inspection. But when will it respond? We will want to respond to their response whenver it's published.

First Frank and Stan Chat of new academic year fortuitously has guest John Malynn. He worked for DfE and Ofsted as a senior civil servant until retirement in 2018. His unique perspective is worth reflecting on to better understand why we are where we are. Enjoy youtu.be/Rod1jJAADAw

The 200th edition of Frank and Stan Chat with Sir Michael Wilshaw as the guest can be found here youtu.be/maC5uA3UuYs. Forthright, reflective, straight talking and a dose of political intrigue and that's not just from the two hosts. youtu.be/maC5uA3UuYs. It's a belter.

More evidence of the failures of English education policies over many years driven by a narrow definition of ‘standards’. We need root and branch reforms based on the UNESCO principle ‘Every learner matters and matters equally’. ⁦Bridget Phillipson⁩ bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
