Finally, here is how my projections of annual 2024 temperatures have changed since the start of the year, and as each month of additional data has come in. At this point 2024 is likely but far from certain to beat 2023 as the warmest year on record (~75% chance):

What’s on the menu in the kitchen? Capacitors! 12µF capacitors for Polaris, to be specific. Our in-house manufactured capacitors will power some sections of Polaris this year.

The world has warmed around 1.3C since the mid-1800s. Effectively all of this warming is due to emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases. But we'd have experienced substantially more – ~0.6C (0.2C to 1.2C) – if planet-cooling aerosols were not masking part of that warming:

Someone asked me what my solution to all the climate stuff is. I have no solution, I don't think there is *a* solution, but I have ideas. Just ideas. Here's one of them. Imagine with me a village or neighborhood, maybe even your own. Imagine some upgrades. 🧵

BP predicts global oil demand will peak next year. (Pretty much inline with what I and others have been saying for the last decade.). This will likely start a plateau of oil demand for a few years, followed by the beginning of the true secular decline by the end of the

I think if we can make fossil fuels a lot more efficient (via big battery usage) .... cut consumption where we can... and build a ton of nuclear.. We'll probably get to net zero a lot faster. And we're basically doing that, minus the "AI" stuff as of late.

What a difference a decade makes, and how long it takes for folks to catch up with the new reality... And its even better today. China just hit its solar target six years ahead of schedule.

Don't pretend it ISN'T a problem, but also don't kill yourself over the thought that there is no solution in sight or something. Be reasonable. phys.org/news/2024-05-p…

“What this new model shows is, when you take into account the limitations of human physiology, these upper wet-bulb temperature limits look as though they are much lower under certain types of conditions.” 🌡🥵 #ClimateCrisis abc.net.au/news/2024-09-0…

The weaponization of environmentalism to serve imperialist/colonial interests is so nefarious because at the same time Zionists and their allies drop more than 70,000 TONS of bombs on Gaza (an environmental nightmare scenario), they’re handwringing about efforts to stop them.

We are at a critical juncture in the history of our civilization and humanity, due to a number of factors. The climate crisis, and rest of the ecological polycrisis, which is much bigger. Warmongering and the election of Trump. 1/🧵
