Anna and I were heartbroken to learn of the early morning mass shooting in Catawba County and are praying for the victims and their families. I have spoken with Sheriff Brown to offer support to make sure the public is safe and the perpetrator is brought to justice.

I am heartbroken to learn of another attack on the Jewish community, this time against people peacefully protesting in Boulder, Colorado. Anna and I pray for the swift recovery of those injured. I am grateful to local law enforcement who acted immediately to get the suspect in

I’m in Western NC today to kick off WNC Open for Business Week! The best way to get back is to come back – the most impactful thing we can do to support western NC is to spend our tourism dollars here.

I look forward to working with the General Assembly to address existing loopholes on cannabis sales that allows teens to buy intoxicating THC here in NC and come up with thoughtful, comprehensive solutions to allow adult use and keep our children safe.

Happy 50th anniversary to Jockey’s Ridge! Josh and I have been having a blast celebrating all weekend. I remember coming here on my 4th grade field trip and it’s been such a treat to be back. It’s a state treasure, come visit!

I visited Nash Correctional Institution to learn about the facility’s support of rehabilitation and reentry through skills training at its printing plant and optical shop. Also, thank you to Representative Dante Pittman for joining me on my visit.

While at Nash Correctional Institution, I sat down for an interview with The Prison News, which is written, edited, designed, and published in-house by those incarcerated, and is distributed to prisons statewide. I really enjoyed my time with them. They asked great questions!

I am appalled by reports of the assassination of Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, as well as the attempted assassination of Senator John Hoffman and his wife. Political violence threatens our democracy and has no home in America. My heart goes out
