The Cleveland Orchestra mourns the passing of Music Director Laureate Christoph von Dohnányi, who led the Orchestra with distinction from September 1984 to August 2002. Dohnányi passed away on September 6 at the age of 95.

RIP Christoph von Dohnányi (1929–2025). As Assistant Conductor of Cleveland Orchestra (2010–12) I had the privilege of assisting him and receiving fatherly advice that shaped my path. A great artist, wise mentor, and gentle man whose legacy lives on. #ClassicalMusic #Conducting
