Cool presentation from Donate Weghorn discussing, Inference of the mutational processes and the mode of growth governing tumor evolution. She shows that spatial clonal dynamics in liver cancer are most likely volumetrically driven using an off-lattice ABM simulation EvoMG Program

Next up is Jamie Blundell presenting, The dynamics of genetic and epigenetic alterations in the decades preceding blood cancer diagnosis. Jamie shows a simple stem cell based model with stochasticity captures the clonal dynamics remarkably well! EvoMG Program

And closing for today, the contributed talk of “Evolutionary cancer genomics” by Konstantinos Karakostis from HMar Research Institute on the evolution of the p53/MDM2 interface leads to gain of functions in development and tumour suppression.

First talk of the last session of the meeting, on “Evolution of aging”, by Peter Sudmant (Peter Sudmant) from UC Berkeley on global diversity, recurrent evolution, and recent selection on amylase structural haplotypes in humans (and many other cool stories 😉).

If you are attending EvoMG Program or are at the Biomedicina BCN or in Barcelona I’ll be giving the closing keynote at 11:30am on some of our on going Centre for Evolutionary Therapy clinical trials as well as showing how we use IMO to drive translation.
