It's been a while since I've fully built out a #WordPress theme from scratch. The new Pattern concept is a bit foreign to me, but I want to give it a try. Looking at Brian Gardner's work with Powder and I'm stoked. Gonna try a child theme based on that :-)

Nearly a decade ago, I wrote a CDN extension for a #WordPress project. I haven't touched it in over 8 years. Learned today that ... folks still use it ... I'm both impressed my code has that kind of longevity and terrified that I have zombie code out there :'(

Went to a local festival today and discovered a local company that makes holsters and accessories. Stopped by their booth to say hi. They flagged me and my kids maybe 6 times while talking about their gear :-( Yeah ... probably won't be buying their stuff now...

Had a chat with friend and his words punched me in the gut... "What if we're burnt out not because we're doing too much, but because we're doing too little of what lights us up.”

For the weekend crowd: This still matters ... AI-generated content is everywhere. It's flooding our professional networks. Destroying social media. Filling news feeds. Each with generic, templated posts that follow predictable patterns. AI slop destroys meaningful discourse.

Every time I write a post I use #Jetpack to publish it to LinkedIn and Mastodon. Then I need to go back in to the "Edit Post" page to manually push it here to X. I so wish there were a better #WordPress integration (or even just a button on the dashboard) to make that easier.

I left Vacasa in April 2023. Since then, they've gone through a massive layoff and internal restructuring and were subsequently purchased by a competitor and taken private earlier this year. I still get calls DAILY trying to sell me crap for "your team at Vacasa." :-/

Watching AI bots fill news feeds with generated (and false) videos and information about the recent #tsunami impacting communities in the Pacific, acknowledging the problem caused by AI-generated content is more important than ever. eric.mann.blog/signal-vs-nois…

During an emergency, Google Fi switched both me and my wife into SOS only mode. Terrifying. Our phones were our lifelines. I fixed it eventually, but it was 2+ hours. Considering #Starlink direct to mobile as a backup. Anyone know if I can dual SIM with a Pixel 9 Pro for that?

I was lucky enough to be in an accelerated math program in middle school. There were 2 of us. We went to and won math competitions. We lost at a championship. Other students were at a higher level. They knew geometry and calculus. We didn't. Because our teacher was prohibited

I have Google Fi unlimited. It's great (except for a recent issue) and my wife and I both use it. Debating adding T-Mobile as a business line to my Pixel. Would have T-Satellite (avoiding the aforementioned connectivity issue). Is $85/month worth it for a biz line?
