Today we suffered a great loss to the UCLA ITS community: Marty Wachs was a distinguished professor, founder of UCLA ITS, but above all -- beloved friend and colleague. Please consider sharing your memories so we may share them with his family. its.ucla.edu/2021/04/12/rem…

.dartmedia has chosen a stellar leader! Grateful for my time working with Nadine in Metro Los Angeles’s innovation office. She has created a strong foundation for better buses and customer experience at Metro.

I tried Metro Los Angeles new Micro service this morning. Scheduled a pick up in Eagle Rock and was dropped at the Highland Park station. It was seamless, vehicle was clean, and driver was nice! Won’t need to drive to the station anymore on my commute! api.metro-micro.net/invite/32qhb8bx

Dueling posters in Eagle Rock about the NoHo to Pasadena BRT project. Fortunately there is a good way to make decision between the two: what’s best for bus riders.

"Perspective" essay from Mineta Transportation Institute by Joshua Schank & Emma Huang suggests a cash subsidy for low-income people to use for trips on mobility modes they choose is preferable to simply making public transit fare-free for them. transweb.sjsu.edu/sites/default/… Relates to #UBM & #MaaS.

I wrote an #MTIPerspective with Joshua Schank on some ways to fix our broken transit planning process to result in better mobility outcomes. Read it here!

On-demand van programs are frequently dismissed as too costly and inefficient. But they can have a role to play in bringing riders back to public transportation, write Joshua Schank and Emma Huang trib.al/33Ak38l
