Our team is uncovering how elephants interact with Big Life Foundation's mitigation fence. A few fence breaches have occurred, requiring a change in tactics. The data collected is helping us develop better mitigation strategies in collaboration with Big Life Foundation.

This is Pauleta, Placida's younger sister who leads the PC family. Understanding individual elephants is central to our work; helping us educate, raise awareness, and shape conservation strategies. It's a crucial approach in safeguarding elephants who are long-lived & complex.

Ilka is the matriarch of the IB Family. Knowing her and other individual elephants deepens our understanding of their complex social lives. Every insight we gain fuels our commitment to protecting their habitat and ensuring their survival in the wild.

Our elephant fence study is showing great promise, with interesting insight already being revealed. We're still analyzing data and refining plans, but this research is key for making smart conservation decisions that use our resources more efficiently. More news to come!

The beauty & charm of Amboseli in the winter dry season: hazy horizons, brown and golden landscapes, and Mount Kilimanjaro occasionally appearing from behind the clouds. Each season here has its own unique magic!

Putting long-run sustainability behind short-term profits epitomizes the ultimate problem with trophy hunting in unfenced systems: the incentive to “over-harvest” is more powerful than conservation or trophy hunter's instinct for self-preservation. dailymaverick.co.za/opinionista/20…

We've just concluded an inspiring 4-day camp with Maasai girls from Lemong'o, Ngong Narok, and Namelock. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Amboseli Trust for Elephants and a thoughtful book donation from friends of CHD, our girls are leaving equipped with the tools to shape their futures.

Born in 1983 to Chloe of the CB family, Calvin has been a part of our research since birth. From a curious calf to a strong, independent male, we’ve followed his life closely. Now, in his prime, Calvin freely roams the Amboseli ecosystem living out his life.
