We have oceans of waste. Amazon’s plastic packaging waste alone could encircle the globe 500 times: buff.ly/39H6cqB. We need to do better. Use less, buy less, waste less. #Useless #WasteLess #BuyLess #ActOnClimate #climate

The Arctic is warming at a rate up to four times faster than the planet as a whole and has lost a third of its sea ice volume in just two decades: buff.ly/3VWL4ny There is a no time to wait. #ActOnClimate #climate #energy #renewables #GreenNewDeal

A few personal notes: I was just at a NASA team meeting for 3 days in DC. The scientific findings are so fucked up. Experts on tropical rainforests told me privately that they think the Amazon has already passed its tipping point. Let that sink in. The world needs to know

Earth just had its hottest month humans have ever directly measured and likely the hottest in over 120,000 years. July 2023 was a staggering 0.33°C (0.60°F) warmer than the 2nd warmest month on record and becomes the first month to breach 1.5°C above preindustrial levels

The Tories are about to approve Britain's largest undeveloped oil field. This will do nothing to lower bills and will fuel further climate chaos. With 50 other Parliamentarians, I've written to the Energy Secretary calling for him to abandon plans for the Rosebank oil field.

This image breaks me. At 2.7 degrees of warming, which is our present policy trajectory, two billion people will be exposed to extreme heat. 99.7% of those people live in the global South. People who have done nothing to cause this crisis. The injustice is staggering.

Global heating likely to hit food supply before 1.5C, says UN expert. Really important story from ⁦Fiona Harvey⁩. We’re seeing devastation with 1.2C heating. We are heading for 3C. We aim to hold emissions by 2050. This is absurdly reckless theguardian.com/environment/20…

A public kept busy, stressed & conditioned to over-consume. A political class in the pocket of those raping our world for profit. A media distracting, lying, feeding complacency & spreading hate-filled ignorance. Doesn’t sound like a society that gets to survive, does it?

Climate Dad (@climatedad77) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Lots of people could give up their car. Most people could give up flying. Pretty much everyone could give up meat & dairy, fast fashion & mindless consumption. Individually we didn’t cause this crisis, but we only get a survivable future if we’re prepared to change how we live.

Today is the #Inglorious12th - the start of the red grouse shooting season. This outdated, unjust “sport” is underpinned by crime, and supports nothing but a scorched landscape which is void of balanced biodiversity. Pls RT if you’d like to see an end to this practice - for

Capitalism promises 2°C of global warming within a decade or two. This is beyond adaptation and implies moving into certain mass death and increasingly rapid extinction. 🧵

I think this is the strongest decision on climate change ever issued by any court. After a trial where climate scientists testified under oath and were subject to cross examination (very rare in itself), the court issued a 103-page decision that found that fossil fuel use is

The devastation from storm floods in Libya is truly catastrophic. At least 5,000 people have died. Many thousands more missing. How much death and destruction will it take for world leaders to take climate change seriously?

Jeremy Corbyn (@jeremycorbyn) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Not one mention of the catastrophic flooding in Libya at PMQs. Where is the concern for the victims of fires in Europe or the droughts across Africa? Where is the outrage at fossil fuel giants destroying our planet? Where is the hope for future generations? Wake up!

Yesterday, we learn that another Tory MP, guilty of sexual misconduct and bullying, was protected for YEARS. Today, police use new govt powers to arrest Greta Thunberg protesting peacefully to protect our shared future. Staggering what Tories consider to be urgent and dangerous.
