Someone out there right now is going to write someone else’s favorite book of all time and is currently wondering if the story in their head is worth telling.

I know it's not what people want to hear but the best thing I've done for my ADHD is cut myself slack. It's not planners, or medication, or productivity hacks. It's recognizing that the world is hard for me to be in and I need to support myself through it with self-compassion.

adhd-angsty The best ADHD "hacks" I've learned for myself are: 1) If I think I'm tired, I believe myself the first time and don't try to talk myself out of it. 2) I give myself permission and space to rest.

Hey, ADHDer. A lot of people have probably tried to "motivate" you with guilt and shame. They might have constructed a neurotypical vision of you and waved it over your head, like a carrot dangling. Their shame doesn't have to be yours. You get to be you, ADHD and all.

It means taking your own side, having your own back, and refusing to let other people dictate what your life is supposed to look like. Saying yes to curiosity and creativity when faced with discomfort. Saying HELL NO to the shame cycle that keeps you stuck.
