I watched the Good Morning Britain segment on calories on menus today and I am truly baffled by some of what Dr. Hilary Jones MBE has said. Firstly, that people with ‘the most severe eating disorder’, anorexia, don’t go to restaurants. This shows a woeful 2D understanding of anorexia.

Such an important 🧵 Sharleen Woods MSc PgDip RD Some sessions I might think I’ll be using MI 2 empower change. Then the patient turns up in distress & clearly just needs to be heard. So I listen actively for 25 mins. Then I might end with suggesting possible actions ie giving advice 😱😉

We are human. Relationship is the foundation of everything. Shared understanding such a key phrase Becki_Hughes 👏

Well done BDA Obesity Group Adrian Brown PhD RD . The Times and The Sunday Times the article on #fatshaming was v damaging. #obesityisnotachoice You don’t have to smoke or drink. You do have to eat. We must address health concerns around weight with compassion + insight bda.uk.com/resource/respo…

Thanks The Chatty Dietitian Practical, clear, compassionate. Something all paediatric ward staff should read.

Thanks for taking the time Dr Ivor Hugh Janus It is important people understand this stuff.

Kel O'Neill James Downs It’s a myth that eating disorders only affect teenagers or that ‘treating the problem upstream’ by investing in CEDS-CYP will eradicate adult eating disorders. More investment is needed both in child & adolescent, and adult eating disorders services.

Thanks British Dietetic Association Really important that we take leadership on this now. Crucial and exciting work. Might be for you.

Lots of great reasons to stick with recovery Iridescent Starfish 🧜🏼♀️❄️🌊💜🌈 The ED gives so many reasons not to recover so important to create space to shift thinking to the value of recovery. Sending strength as you push forward with all this.

Really helpful paper that should prompt debate + exploration of new ways of working. Those who developed SSCM commented on how well dietitians delivered that intervention for example. Trans professional working is nothing new. Thanks for sharing The Chatty Dietitian
