This is shocking. The Stove Industry’s suggestion of using Ready to Burn wood in Defra exempt stoves in Smoke Control Areas make up the largest emission source of the carcinogenic PAH Benzo[a]pyrene in the UK. Ignoring natural fires, as we have no control over these emissions.

Suzanne Orr Shocking levels of pollution in Canberra this evening and it’s likely to get worse as more wood heaters fire up. The ACT has recently recognised the human right to a healthy environment, yet permits a minority of residents to rob their neighbours of safe air.

Springfield, MA: biomass is back on the table. But burning wood emits more CO₂ than coal per unit of energy. This isn’t clean. It’s a loophole. PFPI says NO to false solutions. #StopBiomass #ClimateScience canarymedia.com/articles/polic…

Great to see Canberra Times highlight the harm wood heaters cause to public health and the environment. There’s no reason not to set a more ambitious phase out deadline to protect public health, save public money and protect our environment.Suzanne Orr

Wood burning stoves - such a glorious addition to the urban home. Fashion victims are making the rest of us into cancer victims, heart disease victims and dementia victims. Well done, the middle class!

So much for #CleanAirDay! Neighbour’s BBQ driving us out of our home. Over 30 degrees indoors and house stinks of #woodsmoke. There are many vulnerable people nearby and this will be impacting many households. Why would anyone do this in London on the hottest day of the year?
