Global warming is advancing at its fastest since modern records began 174 years ago, according to a leading team of climate scientists inc Piers Forster. They also found the carbon budget for 1.5C will be blown in around 5 years if emissions stay at current record level



The last 12 months have seen global temperatures at 1.63°C above pre-industrial levels, according to Copernicus ECMWF. May 2024 was the 12th consecutive month for which the global average temperature reached a record value for the corresponding month, based on ERA5 data.
