International law is sacrosanct when Starmer thinks it suits his pet projects, like surrendering Chagos. But it’s brushed aside when it doesn’t support his agenda. Abiding by international law was the one thing Starmer seemed to actually believe in. But with Labour backbenchers

It costs £52,000 a year to keep someone in prison - around the same as sending them to a top boarding school before the VAT change. One in eight prison places is occupied by a foreign national. telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/07/3…

I fear I will now have to apologise to Jack ‘Thick’ McThick. Just 24 hours ago Starmer said Hamas’s release of the hostages was a condition for recognising Palestine. Now the government says it’s not. All the conditions to be met are on Israel. You couldn’t make it up.

“It was made obvious to us at the meeting that…in deciding whether to go ahead with recognition [of Palestine], the release or otherwise of the hostages would play no part”. Lammy, Hermer and Starmer are highly qualified lawyers. But they’ve each failed a basic moral test. 1/2

I think this is a shameful policy. But what’s even more shameful is that neither Lammy nor Starmer had the guts to explain this was the policy - or defend it - in any of the interviews they’ve given on the subject. They left it to officials …2/3

Britain is rushing to become the first state in the world where foreigners, including those who broke into the country illegally, are given more rights than citizens. telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/08/0…

No, the balance is not right. Taxes are at a 70-year high. We are borrowing £150 billion a year, of which £110 billion is simply to pay interest on past borrowing (you read that right). To get back to Blair-era spending levels, we need to cut total expenditure by around 35%.

Labour’s Kinnock calls for VAT on private healthcare - as I have warned for over year Like on school fees will raise less & put extra pressure on NHS Should do opposite - 20% tax relief to encourage more away from NHS so easing pressure digitaleditions.telegraph.co.uk/data/2146/read…

The BBC does not report on protests fairly. How do I know? Because I used to work there. 🟢 If they agree with you, you get sympathetic coverage. 🔴 If they disagree with you, you get smeared or ignored. This is how the BBC rigs public perception of protests 🧵

People may be unhappy with the state of the country. But this poll shows they want the British govt to use its new powers to deal with it. They do not want Britain to adopt rules set by others without any say. And having taken back control from the EU, they want to use it. ENDS

A thought. A year back, on taking power, there was a £22 billion hole. Today apparently the hole is £50 billion. What's happened this past year to drive the size of the hole up by 2.5x? Obviously - hah! obviously - it cannot be the policies enacted this past year ...so, what?

Half of British people support ending immigration altogether and want all recent migrants deported. This is what has been done to a tolerant, high-trust society by a political class which recklessly waved through massive population change. And damn the cost to its citizens.

Or you could compel Hamas to release all of the remaining hostages and lay down their arms? That would end the war without hours. Just a thought 🤷🏻‍♀️

Love the ‘Connolly’ as the unit of measurement of British justice. That should be the benchmark measurement until our ruling class die of embarrassment.
