Louise Haigh: The fiscal straitjacket facing Labour must be broken. This government was elected to transform the country. We can only do that by rewriting the rules that bind us. Louise Haigh newstatesman.com/politics/2025/…

To win in 2029, Labour needs a popular, principled and practical left vision of change. That’s what Mainstream is here to create. Join us to build and champion it: mainstreamlabour.org/get-involved

Brace myself every time I come here, hoping insults I’ll see will be witty rather than make me ask why I do this 🙄 Seeing something nice is so rare, it made me smile enough to share. Obvs not, but lovely of you to suggest. Cheers @LabBeyondCities 🌹 newstatesman.com/politics/uk-po…

Good to join so many colleagues with Ambassador of Palestine Husam Zomlot to commemorate the recognition of Palestine, something I’ve long supported. Great to see so much support of Labour Friends of Palestine & the Middle East at this important moment.

🌹The country will not forgive Labour for allowing children to go hungry. That's why we're calling on Labour's CAC to reverse their decision to block conference motions calling for an end to the two-child benefit limit. 🖊️Sign the petition: actionnetwork.org/petitions/labo…

We cannot afford for child poverty to worsen. Nor can the Labour Party afford to stifle debate about its vision and values. The CAC must allow motions on the two-child benefit limit to progress to the Priorities Ballot. leftfootforward.org/2025/09/two-ch…

This is welcomed news it’s a shame it didn’t come sooner. The UK now must push further in order to help stop the growing humanitarian crisis and the growing concern of a genocide. We should immediately suspend arms sales and begin sanctioning the Israeli regime.

🌹A huge thanks to all who joined Mainstream's first ever gathering at Labour Party Conference this week. We weren't in the fringe guide, but 150+ of you still came along to connect with determined Labour activists from across the UK. 📢Speeches from the night below👇

It is a great honour to have been invited to deliver this,my final lecture at Politics at Hull University of Hull, by my colleagues Lord Norton of Louth and Dr Matt Beech, and to become a Senior Fellow of Centre for British Politics. The time is long overdue to rethink the politics/politicaleconomy of #England.

This is why Bridget is the wrong candidate, slandering her opponent is an act of desperation. She won’t deliver what members want. We want our leadership to be held to account, that’s why I’m supporting Lucy Powell MP who’s made clear she’ll respect members.

Lovely to welcome Lucy Powell MP to Sheffield today. She'll make a brilliant Deputy Leader of the Labour Party - standing up for the values of our movement and speaking truth to power.

Good but difficult conversations at Lucy Listens in Doncaster. Many good Labour councillors lost in May through no fault of their own. Doncaster now lives with a Reform dominated council. We must avoid a repeat of this in the elections this May. From day one as Deputy I will
