Such a great point @kgcloyes. Structural factors are huge in addressing health disparities while also understanding individual experiences. #BehavioralMedChat #LGBTQ #CancerSIG

A1 cont'd Oncologists may err on the side of caution and want trans and/or nonbinary pts to stop hormones while undergoing tx when that may not be necessary. We need more research & info to share with pts AND oncologists to make more informed decisions #BehavioralMedChat

Claire Conley @kgcloyes SBM There are FAR too many cisgender, heterosexual researchers getting funding to "study" LGBTQ+ people without actually paying LGBTQ+ people to play key roles in the research. #BehavioralMedChat

Kristi Tredway, PhD We featured a story recently by Your fave killjoy| Ericka Hart (She/ They) where her oncologist couldn’t find one image of a Black person with mastectomy. Similar issues of invisibility- different identity #behavioralmedchat instagram.com/queeringcancer…

A project that is still in the works and that I worked on with @kgcloyes and @mirandagjones addressed that issue--wondering if poor treatment is due to being LGBTQ in the midst of dealing with a major illness. I am so sorry you experienced what you did.
