It's sad to see such great progress made in Glasgow on some fronts while many of the basics (highlighted here) are failing. I find I now have to look carefully at the ground in front of me because the surfaces are not suitable for walking on.

I'll say as well, as much as I champion the cycling elements - the basic improvement to Glasgow's public realm that's coming along with this also needs to be appreciated. Better crossings, tightened junction mouths. Pedestrian build-outs. New paving. Planting.

I enjoyed working on this paper led by our PhD student Yunbei Ou. It’s great to see an overview of work done on this important topic. One interesting result is the lack of evidence from countries where data isn’t easily accessible. It highlights the benefits of making data open.

This is quite a special way of parking. There was a bin lorry trying to get into the lane as I left. I hope it managed.

My experience as I enter Year 6 of an insurance claim is that insurance seems like a scam. Insurers seem to be able to do whatever they want.

I have never understood how touchscreens got into cars. They are much more tedious and dangerous than what we had before. Probably cheaper though.
