Nolan McLean of the New York Mets is the first MLB pitcher to have: 3-0 record 20+ innings 20+ strikeouts sub-.200 opp BA ...over his first 3 career starts since Randy Johnson in 1988.

The huge advantage the #Mets could very well have come playoff time is Nolan McLean and Jonah Tong. The league is not going to adjust to either rookie for at least a couple months. If that continues past October and the Mets continue this hot streak, teams will have to watch out.

The Draftnik Los Angeles Dodgers will never have faced them. Milwaukee Brewers never will have faced them. If Tong is nasty on Friday night some fear will creep in on opponents.

What's scarier is how raw McLean and Tong are. This is Nolan's 1st full year only pitching. Jonah didn't play much in Canada and has thrown mostly changeups since his fastball and curve are already elite. They're scratching the surface, making as big a leap as any MiLB duo. #Mets

Early in the game tonite Philadelphia Phillies hitters were trying to get early contact to not get to 2 strikes against Nolan. Very good to great #Phillies hitters were scared.

You're right to be excited! When McLean is basically saying he's not walking guys anymore because he trusts his defense in the big leagues and Tong is having the best season in MiLB history, this could be truly special. And I'm talking Lincecum and Matt Cain on SF Giants special.
