I‘m so tired, tired of telling bad diagnoses and poor prognoses. Life is a bitch, sometimes. This weekend I lost a patient, and some might say that he had worse prognosis due to pancreatic carcinoma anyway, but he was not ready for dying. And we were not ready, too.

I am really excited that one of my research group members, who is interested in #fungiom research, will receive a grant for his future project. Looking forward for the first results!

Sometimes there are days of not-believing in yourself, of wishing to give-up, of wanting to quit #research. That‘s pretty normal (yes, ist is!), but you have to learn to deal with it and to be stronger than these feelings.

Today I saw a new patient, a 60y old #trucker, newly diagnosed #esophageal_carcinoma. He told me that they were 8 same-age trucker, when he started years ago. Only 2 are still alive. Assumable a consequence of #lifestyle, a hard job, alcohol and nicotine. It’s so sad.

I lost a very special friend today, a soul mate who accompanied my growing-up. It is not a sad story as so many years were given to him and he died after a satisfying life. Goodbye my friend, hope to see you another day on the other side. #friends
