BREAKING: Shohei Ohtani is pitching for the Dodgers for the first time since signing with the club in 2023. Ohtani last pitched in a game 663 days ago and his return to the mound comes in the best matchup MLB has to offer vs. the Padres. Dodger Stadium is going to be ELECTRIC.

Dave Roberts was ejected by Trip Gibson after taking two steps onto the field to get an explanation. This is absolutely embarrassing by Trip Gibson. To eject a 2x World Series winning, future Hall of Fame manager for this is ridiculous.

At bat of the year for Will Smith. On the 12th pitch of the at bat, Will Smith crushed a 2-run home run to put the Dodgers ahead 5-3. The 12 pitches are the most this season for an at bat that ended in a home run.

Freddie Freeman to Will Smith after Smith hit a 2-run home run on the 12th pitch of the at bat to put the Dodgers ahead: "That's an unbelievable at bat."

Manny Machado: "What's the warning for?" Machado is referring to the warning both teams received earlier in the game after Fernando TatĂs jr. and Shohei Ohtani her hit by pitches.

Dave Roberts says Hyeseong Kim is "earning the opportunity to get a consistent look." "Hyeseong is doing a fantastic job. I do think in a meritocracy, I think Hyeseong has earned opportunities. He's earning the opportunity to get somewhat of a consistent look."

53,568 here for Dodgers World Series jersey giveaway night and Emmet Sheehan's season debut. It marks the 14th sellout of the season and pushes the Dodgers past 2 million fans for the year. 40 games is the fastest to 2 million in franchise history.

The Dodgers entered this 10-game stretch with the Padres and Giants hoping to stay in first place. They've won 7 of 9 games and have a +4.5 game lead on the Giants and +6 game lead on the Padres. "Our guys rose to the occasion. I want to put those guys away."

A coach for the Dodgers told me today that the bad blood between the Dodgers and Padres is very real. These teams don't like each other, and that Dodgers vs. Padres is a bigger rivalry than Dodgers vs. Giants right now. Dodgers vs. Padres is by far the best matchup in MLB.
