Our gardens are all planted and ready for when school returns in the fall. I think the students coming back to WATERMELONS and many other exciting fruits and veggies will make up for not being able to help plant them! #outdoorlearning Bruce Grey Catholic

1680 days ago I took the selfie on the left waiting for the first bus to arrive on my first day as principal The one on the right is from today. This was meant to be my last day with the kids St. Peter & St. Paul and the last day I greeted the busses. I’m going to miss this place! #blessed

The final touches are being put in place for the first day back since April! The site supervisors have been working their butts off so I thought I’d lend a hand. Bejng the principal has some fringe benefits and this is now one of them! #bestjobever

I got some serious #mathbumps on my stroll through classrooms this morning. Saw kids engaged in math learning with Knowledgehook, a challenge from Youcubed and a task being solved on Vertical Non-Permanent Surfaces. Pure bliss!

With almost a 1 km perimeter around the school and a 200 m track, getting the grade 3 to 8 students prepped for our in school cross country meet is a breeze! Getting everyone out for a 20 minute run at the end of each day is a sure fire way to see progress! St Teresa Walkerton

I had the opportunity introduce and reintroduce pentominoes in a few classes yesterday. I love the challenges that result in self pride that a good math task, differentiated correctly, can bring a wide range of learners. Some great problem solving happened! #mathbumps

Today is “Dwarfism Awareness Day” and as a school are wearing green to recognize this day and celebrate Emery, a student at St. Teresa with Dwarfism. We have been learning about Dwarfism as a school because with understanding comes acceptance! #dwarfismawareness

It’s “Future Career Day” at school today. When I grow up, I want to be a professional wrestler. They will call me “Rowdy Roddy Principal” #bestjobever Bruce Grey Catholic

Thank you Michael Jacobs aka “The Math Guy” for another engaging “12 days of Christmas Math Problem”. We did some great learning around the use of ratios and ratio tables In Our 7/8 class! Even with 2.5 more days before Christmas, the kids were engaged in great math #mathbumps

I spent some time with the grade 3s today exploring 3D shapes. The use of polydrons and Polypad from Mathigon made it a real hands on learning experience with some amazing mathematical discoveries. #mathbumps

I had some serious #mathbumps today as I walked around the classrooms! I saw a fraction talk, a pentominoe challenge and a place value card game, and all in junior and intermediate classes! Making math engaging!

This is no exaggeration! If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a million times: “ Life is too short for long division”. #mathbumps

10 years ago the resource “From patterning to algebra” came into my life as a math lead. The beauty of math because of it continues to grow!Hands down one of the best math resources ever by some amazing Canadian mathematicians @drcathybruce

On “snow days” we learn new math games! “0h No 99” is a classic for working on addition strategies and facts, as well as developing thinking and reasoning strategies!

It was so great to work with some our 5/6 kids today on using algebra tiles to model and solve simple equations. As my math hero Michael Jacobs lays it out “you need to start with concrete, move into diagrammatic and then get into symbolic” this was a huge first step #mathbumps
