Pressure down to 942mb!!! Hurricane models did pretty damn well last night! I was hoping they wouldn’t be right.

Winds have increased as has forward motion (moving twice as fast as it was earlier this afternoon)… destructive storm with high wind and high storm surge coming ashore with destructive inland flooding, bad news all around…

#Helene just ran over this buoy...26 foot waves. With the fast forward motion, that surge is about to come in fast and furious in the Big Bend region

It'll be a mess all around the big bend, but here's my estimate of landfall of HURRICANE HELENE... CAT4 near Perry, FL about 11:25 p.m.

Look at the white develop along the NE flank of the eye wall at end of loop… over 140mph

Must say, have never seen an Extreme Wind Warning….

Eye wall will take the shore soon, wishing all safe passage, some how, some way…

Patchy fog in spots (darker colors) with temps in the mid 50s to low 60s to start off the day, a few sprinkles in northern CT, but otherwise fairly dry for most of us...

Next Wednesday is our next real shot for substantial rainfall as another frontal boundary picks up and sweeps Helene's rainy remnants eastward through the northeast U.S. and out to sea for good...

Periods of clouds mixed in over the next 4-day stretch, w/ partial sunshine ruling a good amount of the time... it will be dry with highs in the low to mid 70s and lows in the low to mid 50s, thanks to nearby high pressure, which was saved us from Helene flood potential...

Also, if we can get enough clearing by afternoon in WMass, we could see more of a mid to upper 70s high temp profile for the CT River Valley, especially from Northampton south to Hartford, thru Springfield...
