👀👀 This Harvard CAPS / @harrispoll has some fascinating results. harvardharrispoll.com/press-release-… They provide great summary slides: harvardharrispoll.com The whole thing is worth a read. Disconnect between public perception and media environment?

Interesting lesson in polling data consumption here. The Harvard CAPS / The Harris Poll shows a different trend. Smart consumers of data will dig into the specifics of the survey including question wording, sampling, etc. Not wrong or right, but different data = different conculsions

👀👀👀👀 Big spotlight moment for Sen. Elissa Slotkin. Makes sense for Dems: she won in a Trump state; campaigned on being tough on China, she does not bring a progressive message to the forefront. Seems to be another move in Dems' attempt to bring in voters they have lost.

These kinds of moves seem self-serving. They are. But you know who else likes them? The people of WVa. The Gov and AG can show that they are on the "right" side of an issue a lot of people care about even if it has 0 impact. Poli Sci giant Fenno would call this position taking.

One can rail against a ruling. Everyone who loses does. But this is a political risk for the WH. So far, they have dominated Ds with easy political wins. But this feeds the D narrative. Ignoring a judge goes against sep of powers & our norms. Could let the Ds turn the tables.

Some of this kind of reaction has to be bc we r in an era that's beyond hyper-polarization. We've seen it from folks on the left, too: ideological litmus tests. If you aren't 100% w/ "our team", you're off the team. It's OK to support 80%-or less!-of what a leader supports/says.

This is the kind of stuff that was expected & common (although not in this level of seriousness) in Trump 1.0. The story from the transition thru the early part of Trump 2.0 wast that the unprepared, amateur-type stuff was out because the team was ready for the challenge. Oops

.Mayor Mike Duggan giving quite the State of the City address. A lot of history, a lot of comparisons with the past. We are also seeing what his #MIgov campaign is going to look like: pragmatism, predictability not chaos, stop the fighting and bickering.

Dave Dulio (@davedulio) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This is big news for the #MIgov race for sure. GOP has a big name candidate. But, there's also a downstream effect. Who does the GOP get to run in #MI10? That's been a closer district than many anticipated. If '26 is a tough year for the GOP could this be a D pickup? Certainly.

. The Hill is a great paper. It's a must-read for what's happening in Congress & DC. But, this makes George Clooney out to be some kind of soothsayer. Given the small majority Rs have anyone who has studied cong elections for 10 min could predict this given historical trends.

The dominant narrative about elected officials today is it’s all rancorous & divisive. That’s what we see in most media coverage. But there are those willing to not only listen to the other side but work with them. Brenda Carter State Representative Greg Markkanen @DetNews detroitnews.com/story/opinion/…

The Congressional Baseball Game is a great tradition on Capitol Hill. There's some great historical information on it in this volume Colton Campbell and I put together a couple years ago. taylorfrancis.com/books/edit/10.…
