Reminder that the WNBA’s “hardline position” is complete BS and undercut by their willingness to let the Liberty move in-market just 5 years ago. At worst the league is trying to steal a team from CT and at best they’re trying to shake down new ownership for a relocation fee.

I get the WNBA not wanting to move the Sun to Boston/Providence but its apparent resistance to Hartford makes 0 sense. Seems like the easiest solution to maintain the existing fanbase (which is already good!) and expand it.
