Things I wish my academic friends and colleagues knew about Puerto Ricans 🇵🇷: 1) We say “buen provecho” (translates to bon appetite) to not only wish you a good meal, but it is also common curtesy amongst family, friends, and strangers. Talking during meals is not seen as rude.

It always blows my mind how outside hospitals with very capable ED physicians transfer patients out to a hospital 3hrs away for them to be placed in a splint and given an outpatient surgery date. Talk about patient care and cost.
