I literally misgendered myself today and I’ve been out as non-binary for three ding dang years. You’re gonna slip up. And when you do, don’t make it all about you. Don’t make us feel like we have to comfort you. Just say sorry, correct it, and carry on. That’s all you need to do.

I'm reaching out to everyone I have any sort of connection to that works on including women in computing, because I want tips on how to make a similar movement for non-binary students in computing. It's time! Any pointers to people or groups welcome!

This might be a hot take but I’ll say that the introduction of pronouns at the beginning of a class has always made me, a trans person, uncomfortable because it suspends me—maybe me and one other person depending—in a state of hypervisibility.

If you are straight and cisgendered, over the next few years you may start seeing and hearing LGBTQ people a lot less. It may be very gradual and subtle, and therefore hard for you to notice. So, I'm going to say now, while you can still see and hear me- this was deliberate.

One of the best parts of being a prof is hearing from alumni and what they're up to. Had a favorite prof in college (or even just one whose class meant a lot to you?) reach out to them once in a while and let them know. They want to hear from you :)
