In 2004, Dr. Richard Thompson coined the term “microplastics.” Today, they’re everywhere—from human blood to brains. With over 7,000 studies on their impact, it's time for action. 🌍 The Global #PlasticsTreaty is our chance to turn science into solutions! 🌊 #PlasticPollution

Plastic is an environmental justice issue. 🌍 Countries in the Global South & SIDS produce little plastic but face disproportionate risks - as do frontline communities and informal sector workers. The #PlasticsTreaty must drive a just transition to a fair, circular economy.

Plastic comes at a cost. But who should pay? Currently the Global South bears the burden, despite contributing little. 🌍 The #PlasticsTreaty must drive equitable financing to protect communities impacted by #plasticpollution & build a just transition to a circular economy.
