I’m forever struck at how those leading environmentally sensitive development projects so readily resort to blaming for wildlife law & regulators for their huge cost overruns. Natural England didn’t require this particular design. It was the choice of HS2 amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/n…

The closest I've come to recording a pine marten and badger on camera trap at the same time in #Shropshire...just a few minutes between the clips. Delighted that a marten has shown up after 4 months. NatureSpy® Mammal Society Mammal Research BBC Shropshire

An "accidentally rewilded" 377-acre UK farm is now home to many threatened species, including turtle doves, warblers, 11 bat species, orchids + butterflies. Such examples prove how nature can recover when we let it, + that rewilding reverses nature loss. theguardian.com/environment/20…

Flyover of a recently finished Welsh Dee Trust habitat restoration site. A new fence was installed to stop livestock grazing in the riparian area. This will now be left to allow trees to regenerate, creating a large scrubby buffer alongside the watercourse.

1,651 ha of new forestry was planted in Ireland in 2023, well below the target of 8,000 ha/year. This is actually GOOD news, because it's mostly a profit-driven ecological catastrophe. Time we switched to natural regeneration of *wild, native* trees. agriland.ie/farming-news/1…

Yesterday, my good friend ⁦Chris Sperring MBE⁩ and I held a winter wildlife talk-and-walk⁩ as part of ⁦St George's Bristol⁩ Nature Salon series. “Look under the leaf litter and spring is emerging. Light and warmth are coming”. Thanks for the fun and fascination, Chris

The Starling is a personal symbol to me of how a species can be seemingly everywhere, and then in a blink of an eye, they are gone. Yesterday, I was talking about a common species and told, “it’s not priority”. Oh dear, so sad. Picture using iphone12promax
