Chemical analysis of water trapped in Martian rocks shows high concentrations of oxygen-18, just like in closed-basin lakes on Earth that have partially evaporated. The authors infer that Gale Crater on Mars once held a lake that then evaporated. In PNAS: ow.ly/Tfo250Xh0KY

🐝Just like us, bees eat different things at different temperatures (who wants soup in the summer?). Bombus bifarius likes to visit a cinquefoil (Potentilla pulcherrima) when it’s cooler, but prefers aspen fleabane (Erigeron speciosus) when it’s warm. ➡️ buff.ly/bm2LaNR
