Terribly saddened to hear of the passing of Officer Vasquez of the NKC Police Our hearts are heavy in thinking of our partners to the north. Hoping for strength for Chief Freeman, the department and the community. Have seen this too often in my career.

This morning our 174th Entrant Officer Class carried on the tradition of a class run to honor a fallen officer; they ran for NKC Police Fallen Officer Daniel Vasquez. They ran 3 miles from our HQ to 21st/Clay in NKC in remembrance of Officer Vasquez’ service and sacrifice.

Len Dawson was a frequent presence at Crime Stoppers auctions. He was kind enough to sign this "Lenny the Cool" sign for the Lee's Summit PD basket, increasing the bid to help fund this great organization. Super class act. KC lost a great one. RIP. #LenDawson #ChiefsKingdom

We are relieved to hear about the arrest of Thomas Tolbert, who was taken into custody early this morning in Ellis, Kansas. We are grateful to our law enforcement partners and especially the Kansas Bureau of Investigation for their swift and courageous work.

Our thoughts remain with our officer and their family and the recovery road ahead. The safety of our officers and community will always be our top priority.
