I currently have two PhD students from Iran. It’s heartbreaking to hear them telling stories about what they are going through. I fully support them and their families, and always stand with Iranians people in their fight for freedom and human rights.

At this movement in the chilly winter night, Shanghai people are chanting on the downtown street “ we don’t want dictatorship, we want democracy”.Extraordinary courage and solidarity showed. After 3 years of suffering from lockdown & control of society, people are raged.

Chengdu Candle vigil turns into a gathering of chanting slogans again. Ppl shouted “ freedom of press, freedom of expression”. I have to say it’s amazing to hear these slogans so loudly& earnestly shouted out by Chinese ppl without fear. Unknown why gov could allow this. To watch

My first grad student Zeyuan Song just gave his first-ever presentation at FOCAPO/CPC 2023. We presented a data-driven finite volume discretization approach to solve a complex PDE called the Richards equation for water flow dynamics in soils. Great job, Zeyuan!

You may heard about massive earthquakes in southeast Turkey. Unfortunately, the situation seems to be very severe and it impacted large area (e.g. Boston to DC). It is harsh winter in the area too. In these times, very hard to be away from homeland.

It’s my pleasure to host Prof. James W. Harris, also a Purdue Chemical Engineering alumnus. Prof. Harris’s talk on producing sustainable fuels and chemicals through oxygenate catalysis is inspiring and well-attended. Thank you for sharing your fantastic research with our faculty and students!
