If we want main streets with spice, local, we need to save small shops by providing density; if not, we’ll end up with ‘spiceless streets’, full of Shoppers Drug, Dollaramas, fast food chains, gas stations. #ElectionsMatter if we want a #Toronto4Everyone w #Gil4Mayor

The Dutch invest €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart govts do the math on investing in better mobility. Let’s be clear — it wastes public money to NOT do it. #CityMakingMath HT Melissa & Chris Bruntlett

If walking costs you $1, we all pay $0.01. If biking costs you $1, we all pay $0.08. If bussing costs you $1, we all pay $1.50. If driving costs you $1, we all pay $9.20. Via The Discourse study. This isn’t just about choice. It’s about who pays for your choice. #citymakingmath

Make money or pay taxes. Surface parking lot owners should be given the option to generate electricity with solar panels and sell it, tax exempt for 5 years, or pay a surface parking lot tax. In #Cities4Everyone the common good must prevail. Not tech or $; it's political. #DoIt
