#LatinoHeritageMonth is a good opportunity to think about the #LatinX word carefully. This term originated in the US academy and many hispanics don't feel included by it. That X excludes speakers from their own language. We're also latinos, latinas, latines.

@devdav01 Latinx is deff more of an American Hispanic thing. Latine is what I see used in Latin America as a gender neutral term because the -e can follow Spanish conjugation and make sense

And I primarily work with and attend school with Latine people, so it’s not like it’s just one or two people saying it

Desde mi regreso a Colombia, luego de finalizar mi doctorado, le aposté a mi país. Creí genuinamente que era posible dedicarme a la investigación y a la docencia para aportar desde lo aprendido afuera. Pero estos cuatro años han sido una desilusión tras otra.

Cuando me casé con mi novio tuve el pensamiento constante de que algún funcionario nos iba a discriminar, de que alguien nos iba a amargar el momento porque sí. Ese es un miedo que una pareja heterosexual no entiende. No es cuestión de "vayan a donde los casen y ya".

La frustración que me genera ver la "fuga de cerebros" en Colombia porque yo misma me fui del país y NO me veo volviendo al país y sé que la mayoría hará lo mismo. Me frustra aún más lxs colegas que apostaron por volver y no ven la hora de salir porque NO hay oportunidades
