.Newsday Sports makes the jump to light speed! Thank you, Joe Manniello and David Whitehorn, for thinking of my upstate Dad and sending him Newsday’s hyperdrive-powered baseball preview. May the Force be with you.

For me, the news about the #Isles radio broadcast team is more shocking than the Lou announcement. That was, as has never been, a big operation, I’m sure the listenership isn’t massive, but not having a radio pbp team is minor league stuff and I thought we were beyond that.

Confirming Arthur’s report that #Isles are evaluating no longer having specific radio broadcasters, and that Chris King and Greg Picker have been let go. The day after they announced a new era, the Islanders come off today as minor league. It is a gross, unforced organizational

If this is true it is incomprehensibly embarrassing. Radio is not a disposable commodity no matter how much things have changed in the industry. Fans need to have access to live play by play when they can’t see the game; even if it’s on an app, via the internet. Shame on them.

I’ve known Chris King for over three decades and Greg Picker for well over a decade. Sorry to hear that they won’t be part of the next era of #Isles hockey. Feel also for the hundreds of WRHU Sports student professionals who have been a part of this for 15 years. #NHL

I remember Mike Bossy (RIP) telling me I was crazy when I said that I believed that the building was louder in that 2002 series with Toronto than it was even during the Cup years but I stand by that. By ‘02 there were about 15 years of pent up frustration being let loose.

I know Pope Leo XIV to be a kind, open, humble, modest, decisive, hard-working, straightforward, trustworthy, and down-to-earth man. A brilliant choice. May God bless him.

Michelle and I send our congratulations to a fellow Chicagoan, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV. This is a historic day for the United States, and we will pray for him as he begins the sacred work of leading the Catholic Church and setting an example for so many, regardless of faith.

On this Mother’s Day edition of Scorsese Sunday, here’s one of my all-time favorite scenes in any Scorsese film ever: Catherine Scorsese’s cameo in Goodfellas. Catherine’s innocence in this scene is so wholesome & so authentic. Marty’s a legend for putting his mom in Goodfellas.

John DeMarsico is making Mets games look like De Palma films. The crowd, of course, is going wild. slate.trib.al/7QTa56l

Not fair to blame David Stearns for Senga and Manaea. But the decision not to bring back Quintana, and rolling dice with Montas and Holmes has really backfired, as much as offense has hurt this team. Also, kids should've been up for at least a few weeks by now. #mets

The #Mets will remind you after the game that there's a lot of talent on this roster, they're trying hard, and they're better than this.

Fans are understandably not happy with the Mets. They boo loudly after finally retiring the Mariners in the seventh inning, now trailing 10-6.
