A little behind the right ball on this but a Big congratulations to Bronc Finch for successfully defending his dissertation yesterday. His project dove into tillage, fertility, and the additional of summer forages in a winter wheat graze out system. Department of Plant & Soil Sciences

New paper out by Dr. Finch Bronc Finch just in time for wheat sowing. From Mr. Jonathan Williams M.S. work, the short story was if soil test said nutrient concentration was adequate, no value was gained by adding more with the in-furrow starter. ow.ly/tYFf50KFvOy

I am excited to be working as the new soil extension specialist for the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture. I hope to aid producers of Arkansas in improving soil nutrient management practices in forage, pasture, and other crop production.

Happy to share Bronc Finch Dr. Finch's latest paper "Evaluation of Nitrogen and Cropping System Management in Continuous Winter Wheat Forage Production Systems" Check out the work on N rate and timing in grazeout wheat with summer forage crop. mdpi.com/2073-4395/13/1…

Now that I’ve started getting settled in, I’ve gotten the opportunity to present at a few production meetings and conferences. I have enjoyed the good questions and conversations. I am excited for the future of the program and to work with the producers of Arkansas.

Established a nitrogen rate trial on an irrigated Bermudagrass hay field in Greene county earlier this week. I am excited to see the results of this trial, as well as the data that will be collected on irrigation and potassium management decisions.

Preparing fertilizer for 25 #fertility trials across 13 counties looking at N rate, Sulfur rate, and N stabilizer use in forage production. Hopefully providing a good representation of #arkansas #hay acres and useful information about fertilizer management in forages.

First application of nitrogen are out on irrigated Bermudagrass nitrogen rate research on-farm locations in Faulkner and Greene counties. Big shout out to the county agents for making a timely application. We look forward to interesting results.

Had a successful Wednesday planting a warm season annual forage variety trial and nitrogen timing study at the Southwest Research and Extension Center. A big thanks to the station crew, Dr. Maggie Justice, and GreenPoint Ag for the assistance and collaboration.

Worked with Bronc Finch on harvesting the high nitrogen on bermudagrass plot today. We at least got the plots cut before we got rained out. Hopefully can fertilize again next week. UA System Div of Ag Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service
