All staffside unions, including us The BMA & UNISON Northern, are calling for South Tees to reverse this. It’s ‘punitive’ for doctors & staff, but crucially for patients too. The only people STees are choosing to fine are patients & staff 2653 spaces, 8523 staff (ex. res docs)

Doctors in South Tees Hospitals are entering formal dispute over plans to issue ParkingEye fines. This follows rounds of discussions where staff concerns were ignored. We call on the trust to reverse their decision and negotiate more spaces to prevent fines on doctors and their patients.

The results are in from hundreds of doctors surveyed. 97% of South Tees Hospitals’ resident doctors are concerned that these changes will adversely affect patients accessing healthcare. 94% say parking is poor or very poor. ~2500 spaces, almost 9000 staff. More spaces needed, not fines.

Resident doctors, inflation is now 3.6%. The govt suggested a 2.8% pay ‘award’. The maths is simple: 3.6% - 2.8% = real terms pay cut, If there’s one thing you do today, get ready to act by updating your details (address/ workplace): bit.ly/BMABallotReady

This week, BMA Northern Resident Doctors Committee brought members together. It was loud and clear from *all* doctors there - colleagues are facing unemployment in August. >400 applicants for 1 job in one case! Unemployed doctors is a demonstrable failure in NHS England Workforce, Training and Education’s workforce planning.

Good to see some recognition that paying consultants more University Hospitals Sussex 'helped trust cut waiting lists by nearly 20%’. Hopefully other Trusts will start to understand that too! hsj.co.uk/quality-and-pe… Health Service Journal Alison Moore @alijanemoore.bsky.social

Night shift later but not before getting in ward walks at Wansbeck Been chatting to residents about our journey to full pay restoration, training bottlenecks, prospects of unemployment and issues around PAs and AAs in the trust As always a 2.8% pay recommendation is not enough

Another day, another NHS England Workforce, Training and Education disaster. Today, Radiology. Doctors’ jobs in the lurch due to NHSE failure. It needs fixed immediately: 1️⃣ All offers need guaranteeing 2️⃣ Jobs for anyone who scored highly enough 3️⃣ A public investigation - no of drs, how & plan to prevent again

Resident doctors in our region are sadly affected by this. Doctors have today declined offers elsewhere to become radiologists. A specialty without enough consultants. Now that’s in the lurch thanks to NHS England Workforce, Training and Education. All offers must be guaranteed. Followed by an investigation.

We’re working as a region of reps to make sure any safety critical breaches are addressed. Reps across the region will be ensuring fines are made for unsafe rotas. We’ll also be making sure those fines are accounted for. Doctor and patient safety comes first.

Doctors won’t be ignored. Fines & charges on doctors providing lifesaving care. Fines for patients who can’t get parked. Staff & patient concerns dismissed by South Tees Hospitals. Doctors of all grades, HCAs, nurses, dieticians, radiographers, physios all standing against this 💪

At first, introducing ParkingEye was about ‘access’… then it was equity… now it’s to pay for “modern parking technology.”. Meanwhile there has been a 108% rise in parking fees & planned fines on patients and doctors. A £23.1m budget loss to fix. Something doesn’t add up 🤔

🚨 BREAKING: Resident doctors in England have re-entered a pay dispute with the Government. Why? Because progress is being stonewalled by the continued delay in the publication of the DDRB's pay recommendations. Trust must be rebuilt. Publish the DDRB now bma.org.uk/residentspay

UHT’s new exec team is in dispute with all unions, including The BMA. Our region is >95 miles long. Doctors choose Teesside despite that - great consultants & training. How much longer if the exec treats staff with contempt? It’s just one letter away from becoming University Hospitals Birmingham
