Roads are completely covered this morning. Crews have been out since 5am this morning on the paved roads. Some paved roads are only 1 lane due to drifting.

Plows will be out until 5pm tonight, 11/29. Many of the paved roads are still covered with a hard pack layer. We do anticipate some drifting overnight. They will be back out at 5am tomorrow. The graders will also be out on the gravel roads tomorrow.

1130/25 - Trucks and graders will be running until 5pm tonight. Still some hard packed snow on the roads. Paved roads are still mostly covered. Graders have been on the gravel roads trying to get them all opened up. Our goal is to have all the gravels opened by noon tomorrow.

Road conditions around the county vary. The northern half is mostly clear. South of Hwy 20 we did have some blowing and drifting snow. Plows are out south of Hwy 20 clearing the drifting.

There are patchy slick spots where snow was blowing across the roads as well as some sections of ice this morning. Crews will be out spreading salt & sand. Take your time this morning if you're out early.

Roads in the south half of the county are completely covered with snow and ice. In the north half, the roads are partially to completely covered with snow. Trucks are heading out on the paved roads this morning. If you're out early this morning, slow down and take your time.

Today's rain turned to slush and ice pretty quick. Trucks are out on the paved roads spreading salt/sand. Take your time if your out, the roads are slick.

Plows are out this morning clearing drifts from last night. We plan to have the blades out later today as the winds die down.

Patch ice on the roads this morning with dense fog. Please drive slow and make sure your lights are on. We will have the trucks out this morning, but they will be a little delayed with the fog.

Black Hawk County Roads Department will be closed today, January 19, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The office will resume regular business hours, Tuesday, January 20 at 8 a.m.
