Psychological safety is massively underrated. Whether you're at school, in work, in a meeting, on a call, doing training, or even in your own home. Do you feel safe enough to bring your full, authentic self to the table?

There is no formula for writing/recording/communicating info about young people in a trauma-informed way but TheInnovateProject research helped us identify some helpful things to consider. Check out this amazing graphic @MichiMathias created to help us share our learning 👇

Make schools more rigid. Insist that children stop playing years before they are ready for it. Impose a one size fits all system on everyone - and when it doesn't work for an increasing number, say that they are the problem, not the system. theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/s…

A creative ice-breaker for day 1 of our new School Wide Advocate for Neurodiversity (SWAN) training. Wonderful to follow the development of new courses and then see them begin. We hope to offer to more settings next year.

Let's make it clear: living on the streets is not a ‘lifestyle choice’ - it is a sign of failed government policy. No one should be punished for being homeless. Criminalising people for sleeping in tents, and making it an offence for charities to help them, is unacceptable.

Hopefully, this can add to the debate and encouragement to move away  traditional punitive practices and towards relational approaches. A systematic review of children and young people’s perceptions and experiences. tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…

Astonishingly powerful. Hit me right in the feels, and I felt every word 🤍 A must listen for anyone working with children (or adults), who have experienced childhood trauma. Kindness. Empathy. Curiosity. #connectionseeking #listen #askwhy #childrenincare #childhoodtrauma

This is how narratives are made. New research says children who ‘are not school-ready’ are twice as likely to be persistently absent. The author says “School is where children develop & flourish, academically, emotionally, socially, and physically.” 🧵1/16 tinyurl.com/762kc6an
