As Bobby Kennedy taught us, the thing about hope is that it travels through space *and* time, first splashing against the rocks, but eventually breaking down the walls of cruelty and injustice. And if we do our best with the time we’re given, others will take hope in our example.

Update: six days later, statewide snowpack is down to 8% of avg for date. Rapid melting & sublimation continues amid an unusually early spate of critical fire weather conditions (driven by record-dry vegetation for the date, anomalous warmth, and offshore winds). #CAwx #CAfire

75% of water in Ca. State Water Project comes from Feather River (blue). No forest canopy in high elevations means no shade, snow melts quicker, and we have less water available late in the summer. It's a really big deal. Here is the area burned in past 12 months. #DixieFire

This is from a climate scientist as NASA. Please call your state representative in the Senate and tell them how important it is that we act on climate change now. (202) 224-3121 #Dixiefire #Climatechange #Hope #Action

There is a lot of important information about the future of our climate in the nearly 4,000 pages of the new IPCC 6th Assessment Report WG1. Thankfully Carbon Brief is here with a massive, easy to understand Q&A to explain most of the important parts: carbonbrief.org/in-depth-qa-th…

Just for comparison, San Francisco is 46.87 square miles, New York is 304 square miles, Los Angeles is 472 square miles and the Dixie Fire is now 800 square miles. The Dixie Fire is just roughly short of all these cities combined. Food for thought. #dixiefire,

#DixieFire (Plumas/Butte/Lassen Co) - Radio traffic saying just now that the firing operations have been completed in Division 'U' which is just east of #Chester & that fire remains within control lines.
