In 2001, Seoul's new mayor, Lee Myung-bak promised to restore the Cheonggye Creek after it was sealed over for an elevated freeway in 1968. Since its removal, 500,000 people each week visit the 9km of river and greenery in the heart of the city.

Huh. Replacing a parking lot with actual development near a baseball stadium. Fascinating stuff. Can anything be learned from this, potentially?

MMSD issued a water droplet alert, a potential precursor to a sewer overflow. Every gallon of water you don’t use by delaying washing clothes or other discretionary activities could keep a gallon of sewage out of Lake Michigan.

Hear me out on this. Marc Lasry is set to make about 800 million after he sells his 25% share of the Bucks. The public portion of Fiserv was 250 million. I think it is fair to ask Lasry for 25% of the 250 million. That would equal 62.5 million back to Wisconsin taxpayers.

Never forget, multimodal streets (aka “complete streets”) are simply more efficient, because they move, hold & serve more people within the same space. Whether you think streets are just for moving people, or are for a LOT more, they’re just better. Via NACTO #citymakingmath

Paris and Nantes are roughly the same distance as Nashville and Atlanta. The former has 21 daily high-speed rail trains starting at $28 and the other has none and costs $250 - $350 by air. Just trying to understand how the largest economy on the planet thinks this makes sense.

I talked to a city traffic engineer and it turns out one of the reasons we don’t have real protected bike lanes is because drivers don’t like it when they hit concrete barriers and damage their cars so cyclists are left with plastic sticks and paint for protection.
