1/11 Flew sat 9 April ISA to BNE and Qantas asked passengers to volunteer themselves or their luggage on a later flight.

2/11 Myself and half a dozen other passengers did that. Qantas promised our bags would be couriered to us that evening.

3/11 It’s now day 8. No baggage. No communication. No apology. No explanation. I know I’m one of tens of thousands of Qantas passengers left utterly deserted by their airline. Utterly deserted. #qantas

4/11 What have I done to solve this issue? 21 hours on hold with Qantas before I gave up. Private messaged Qantas. No response. Two customer care forms submitted. No response. Read customer charter. Useless. #qantas

5/11 I’ve also filed a complaint against Qantas with the Australian Airline Advocate. But here’s the thing. It’s industry-funded. You’re only eligible to use the advocate if you’ve had a response from the airline. So I received a reply telling me I’m ineligible #qantas

6/11 Why would an airline respond to its customers at all? As soon as they do respond we’re all eligible to have our complaint handled by the toothless tiger that is the industry-funded (ie Qantas-funded) advocate. #qantas

7/11 Thanks to a FB group sharing tips for how to actually get through to Qantas I finally spoke to a human who could indeed confirm my luggage hadn’t arrived. He was not able to provide any information about where it was or when it would be returned to me. #qantas

8/11 He also told me Qantas had provided no information to its call centre staff about compensation or what our rights are with regards to replacing items in our luggage. #qantas

9/11 I explicitly asked this Qantas staff member “can I be reimbursed for essential items I need to replace?” Items such as socks and bras and work boots and medication. He could not answer that question. #qantas

10/11 I will not let this issue slide. We must have a fully independent ombudsman for the airline industry. Qantas has had it too easy through this whole debacle. #qantas

11/11 I also will fight @qantas for compensation so that I am reimbursed for every item I’ve had to replace from my luggage until day 21. After which I’ll demand full compensation for the replacement value of every item lost. #qantas
