The story of the OSIRIS-APEX mission is so compelling, someone should be able to make a short video making the funding case to send to congressional reps. I mean, a case can be made for all the NASA science missions but this one has huge appeal to the public.

As we celebrate #AsteroidDay, we honor #NASmember Eugene Shoemaker—whose impact on planetary science rivals the craters he studied. A pioneer of astrogeology, he revealed the power of cosmic collisions. ☄️ Explore his story in his NAS memoir: ow.ly/PTNt50WiwyZ #MemoirMonday

Well, folks... Of course BLM approved the #copper mining exploration near my home - right next to AZ's last wild river, during year 26 of megadrought, during a year of severe rain shortage. 2-3 years, 67 sites, 24/7 operations, guzzling 70,000 gallons of water each. For free.

From an excellent source: The CJS Bill and Report PDFs won't be posted online until this afternoon, or potentially this evening.

A recently discovered extraterrestrial "visitor" is hurtling toward the inner solar system at 130,000 miles per hour and has quickly captured the attention of astronomers and space enthusiasts around the world, including here at LPL. news.arizona.edu/news/emissary-…

Good explainer on what just happened with Senate CJS. The Bill is *vitiated*, not defeated, i.e. the previous vote to refer the CJS Bill favorably to the full chamber is nullified. The NASA and NSF stuff is bipartisan and will survive the limbo, BUT... punchbowl.news/article/washin…

We’re still capable of big things like this, but it’s not a given. NASA faces steep cuts, has no permanent administrator, and has had thousands of senior staff pushed out. If we had these same challenges during the space race, we’d have lost.

Science is why we have the biggest economy in the world. Science is how we, the United States of America, solve the hardest problems. Science has allowed us to create new industries that create good jobs.
