The Lowther 06 #hogback. Captured via #3d #photogrammetry a few days ago. Some unusual carvings on this one according to The Corpus of Anglo-Saxon Stone Sculpture (CASSS)! Some nice tegulation still remains #earlymediaeval #viking The Govan Stones 🛡👑
We’re delighted to share some amazing work at Brompton by current Durham Archaeology PhD student Roger Lang. Explore Roger’s Brompton collection online (sketchfab.com/rwlang/collect…) or click here to read more about his project in general (nebulousflynn.substack.com/p/herding-hogb…). Sarah Semple
Fantastic online Brompton sculpture collection by Roger Lang in collaboration with The Corpus of Anglo-Saxon Stone Sculpture (CASSS)
Durham Archaeology PhD student Roger Lang's Brompton models have got us buzzing 🐝. Let's look at Brompton 3, a cross-shaft fragment. sketchfab.com/3d-models/brom…
Here's Brompton 14, a cross-head fragment today held in Durham Cathedral's Open Treasure. Both lateral arms are broken off. A Crucifixion inhabits one of the broad faces. Christ stands, feet turned out, wearing a long garment.
We do love a great rock 'n road trip, Mercian Migrant!
And Lowther has some pretty fantastic early medieval sculpture to boot (chacklepie.com/ascorpus/catvo…) Can't make it to Lowther? The Great Court British Museum has one of the Lowther pieces: a show-stopping vinescroll cross-shaft! 🌱
