Thrilled to be starting the third phase of my @Leverhulme project The Legacy of the Vikings. On my way to the Isle of Man. But I’ve stopped off in Halton, Lancashire, to see this wonderful Anglo-Scandinavian cross in the churchyard of St Wilfrid’s.

Some early Christian monuments, currently stored inside Monigaff Church, are on the move as the Church of Scotland sells this historic Kircudbrightshire church.

The Perthshire village of Fowlis Wester is worth visiting to see the Pictish stones which are housed in the church.

The Corpus of AngloSaxon Stone Sculpture is fantastic (books & online chacklepie.com/ascorpus/catin… ) but, is a tool available to search the data? St Serf's Church in Dunning opened up for spring/summer of last weekend, giving me the chance to visit the magnificent Dupplin Cross. This was carved from old red sandstone in the early 8th century.

The new Perth museum opened its door for the first time over the Easter weekend. Situated in the former City Hall, its headline attaction is of course the Stone of Scone. However it also contains an impressive display of Pictish Stones

This beautifully detailed illustration of Muiredach's Cross at Monasterboice by sara nylund is sure to keep the children – and adults! –  busy during even the rainiest spells this Easter.
