And finally from Braddan, the tantalisingly incomplete runic message here: “Odd raised this cross in memory of his father, Frakki. But Thor….”
Look at those boldly carved and determined dragons!

Thrilled to be starting the third phase of my @Leverhulme project The Legacy of the Vikings. On my way to the Isle of Man. But I’ve stopped off in Halton, Lancashire, to see this wonderful Anglo-Scandinavian cross in the churchyard of St Wilfrid’s.

The Corpus of AngloSaxon Stone Sculpture is fantastic (books & online chacklepie.com/ascorpus/catin… ) but, is a tool available to search the data? A spreadsheet allowing searching by date, type, imagery would be very helpful? Dr Christina Smith The Corpus of Anglo-Saxon Stone Sculpture (CASSS) Megan Henvey Dr Meg Boulton Heidi Stoner

Easter trip to Pictish Perthshire 2
St Serf's Church in Dunning opened up for spring/summer of last weekend, giving me the chance to visit the magnificent Dupplin Cross. This was carved from old red sandstone in the early 8th century.

Easter Trip to Pictish Perthshire 3
The new Perth museum opened its door for the first time over the Easter weekend. Situated in the former City Hall, its headline attaction is of course the Stone of Scone. However it also contains an impressive display of Pictish Stones

This beautifully detailed illustration of Muiredach's Cross at Monasterboice by sara nylund is sure to keep the children – and adults! –  busy during even the rainiest spells this Easter.

And make sure to share all the family's creations with us, so that we can share them too!

An Anglo-Saxon grave slab from St. Peter’s Church at Monkwearmouth in Sunderland commemorating Herebericht (priest). The church was founded in 674-5 by Benedict Biscop as part of the double monastery of Wearmouth-Jarrow; also home to the Venerable Bede. 📸 My own.
