At the weekend, 1st Battalion, The Mercian Regiment’s Nordic skiing A and B teams achieved a 2nd and 3rd place respectively, in the Infantry team relay event. A close race for 1st and an excellent result for the B team. The group look forward to two remaining events in the coming weeks. #SFSH

#OnThisDay in 1991: At 2330hrs, British forces & allied counterparts sent hundreds of planes on bombing raids into Iraq, signalling the start of Op DESERT STORM. The 1st Bn, the Staffordshire Regiment, deployed to Saudi Arabia on Op GRANBY, as part of the efforts against Iraq.

1st Battalion, The Mercian Regiment’s Nordic skiing team completed the Infantry Championships with a 1st place in the Classic Relay. Overall, there were 2x 2nd places (biathlon sprint & relay) and a 3rd place (classic sprint), together qualifying them for the Divisional Championships this week. #SFSH

1st Battalion, The Mercian Regiment B (Malta) Company continue their training, this time in the heart of Mercia in the Staffordshire moorlands. The troops have conducted a patrols competition over 25km, testing skills such as reconnaissance, attacks, and casualty management. #ArmdInfExcellence #SFSH
