Just a few days ago, 14th Street was taken over by a checkpoint where police and federal forces profiled and brutally detained people until organizers shut it down. Today, people came together on 14th & U with Free DC to demand an end to the occupation.

Columbia Heights just told ICE to get out of our neighborhood. People on foot, in cars, on balconies, all telling them to leave our people the fuck alone

The energy here was electric last evening! Deeply moving to see so many neighbors in DC getting organized against the Federal violations of Home Rule and fighting for a real working class agenda. I cannot wait for Aparna Raj to be the next Councilmember from Ward 1.

Yesterday, neighbors in Columbia Heights bravely rose up in solidarity to defend our community from the terror campaign created by the very people our mayor is smiling at here. We deserve leaders who will join us in the fight, not make nice with those trying to hurt us.
