Today we held our commendation ceremony, which is always a day which makes me feel fortunate and proud to lead Met Detention. Commendations awarded included; life-saving work; sustained contributions and excellence in detainee care; and work which delivered justice for victims.

We are developing a child centred custody approach trialling new ideas. Including drawing boards in cells providing a chance to focus their minds during what can be a stressful time. The pic was drawn by a detained child. I hope their obvious potential is realised. #Custody #Art

A national memorial for Sergeant Matt Ratana has been unveiled outside the Windmill Road Custody Centre in Croydon. This memorial is a fitting and lasting tribute to Matt who was murdered in the line of duty on this day in 2020. Through this tribute he will be remembered always

A brilliant national crash investigation conference yesterday. Great presentations, one from a bereaved mother who lost her daughter to an outrageous dangerous driver. Her words were so emotional and powerful that it left in no doubt the importance of this work. Truly inspiring!
