Hi! Is anyone looking for a generalist with training in adv. stats, pedagogy, soc/pers psych? I’ve got a brief gap in employment this summer and I’d be grateful for any leads on summer work—adjuncting, tutoring, consulting, etc. Open to virtual or anything in the tristate! 🙏

You already know the deal—encouraging you to stand in solidarity w/ the workers at Rutgers University. It’s these folks that make this university a world class institution and the best in NJ. They deserve to be treated and compensated as such.

🫸💨💣 - Bayes factors are just as flawed as p values but we don't notice because people who use BFs are already good at statistics

My lab UC Riverside is recruiting for a lab manager! We use EEG + fMRI to study human memory in younger and older adults. Fab opportunity for someone thinking about grad school in the future. I’ll begin reviewing apps starting 5/1 so get ‘em in now: bit.ly/dzlabmgr

What are yalls tips, tricks, and best practices for navigating the changing dynamic of advisor/advisee relationships when moving from grad student to tt prof? It seems to me this transition can come with growing pains, and I've never heard anyone really discuss it much anywhere.

Encouraged to see addressing loneliness positioned as a top public health priority. To get there, social anxiety must be part of the conversation. #SocialAnxiety 1/

The real question is whether a poor persons right to *life* is less important than a subway rider’s right to comfort. Everyone has felt uncomfortable on the subway before. Even scared. Some have even been attacked. But most of us have ever murdered anyone over it.

A reminder that Elsevier made $10.5 BILLION in 2022 from selling your academic journals and articles behind paywalls, and make more profit than Amazon, Google, and Apple every year… And paid the academics who wrote the articles $0 And paid the reviewers of the articles $0

a student shared that they create a study guide, show it to chatGPT, and ask it to generate practice exam questions. It can generate tons of questions for them to quiz themselves. Seems like a pretty good use of chatGPT to support student learning!

Would you be mad if a student used Chat-GPT to help structure an outline for a class essay, but then wrote the entire essay themselves?

LIFE STILL IN COLLEGE as a 30-year-old grad student -get up at 10am -twitter -eat a sandwich -look at email, make blank drafts of responses which i will 'get to later' -start writing but then get scared and read instead -make big pasta -read wikipedia pages

Lots of people talking about strawman arguments against pre-regs in QTs and replies to Eiko Fried's nice thread here. My take is that pre-reg emphasizes a testing perspective over a model-building one, and that is sometimes not conducive to learning about the world 🤓
